Only in Bremen
The Grand Re-opening of the Bremen, GA Walmart. Not the opening. No, that only had a band playing and the mayor speaking. This is the “Grand Re-opening”, and before 8am on a hot-as-hell August Friday morning in little Bremen, GA, the local Walmart had in attendance:
1) The GA National Guard
2) A DJ with a fondness for Bon Jovi and giant pair of speakers
3) Local country music singers
4) The mayor with a long-winded speech and a prayer asking God to bless this Walmart
5) Other local speakers
It’s shocking, and it’s ridiculous. They moved some shelves around, cleaned up a bit, and then threw a town-wide party asking God to bless something that would probably make money even if He cursed it. Don’t people have better things to do than to get up at the crack of dawn to celebrate some shelves being moved and someone finally picking up broom and a mop for a clean-up on aisle 9?
